Independence is one of the most important tasks for parents and teachers. It is also one of the most difficult to practice. We usually tend to do things for children because it is easier and faster, but with that action we are blocking their ability to choose and solve problems. As educators, we have to promote independence by encouraging children to solve problems by themselves (but provide guidance) and to help them do things for themselves to encourage independence and self-confidence.
